About

Julie Williams is a photomedia artist living and working in the Vale of Clwydd, NSW Australia. Julie has been a finalist in national art awards, and her work is represented in private collections.

The source of her imagery is the natural landscape within the Great Dividing Range near her home on the western edge of the Blue Mountains. Video and photography capture moving water at a waterhole in a nearby river. This location is a sacred women’s place in Wiradjuri country, and a site for women to tell their stories. Now a contemporary recreational and nature reserve it is developing a modern history while still manifesting deep spiritual links with the past. Water, for Julie, is a metaphor for the passage of time, death and renewal.
